Tasting - Crosskey’s Vinyards Pinot Noir

Name:  Crosskey’s Vinyards Pinot Noir
Variety:  Pinot Noir
Region: Mt. Crawford, Virginia
Country: USA
Year: 2014
Price: $28.00
CrossKey’s Vineyard’s Review: A brilliant garnet in the glass heavily perfumed with nutmeg, pink peppercorn and brandied cherry.  The palate is piquant but integrated and leaves the mouthwatering. Camphor and cranberry flavors lead to a petite finish. Excellent on its own but beautifully paired with an aged Gouda or Manchego.

My Review:  This wine had a tobacco aroma with a hint of coffee.  The color was a glimmering bright burgundy.  This is a medium bodied wine with wonderful blackberry, cherry flavors and a peppery finish.  This is a semi-dry Pinot that was smooth on the finish.  The acids and tannins were balanced in perfect harmony.  I did not have any food with this wine.  This is Pinot was my favorite wine at CrossKey’s.  It has a lot of personality with both spicy and jammy flavor profiles.  I would highly recommend this Pinot Noir!
